Gary was a wonderful father, Gramps and most of all friend to us. We were so fortunate to have him in our lives. He saw us at our best and our worst, and loved us unconditionally. He was of such strong character; a great sense of humour; compassionate and kind; our gentle giant.

My memory of uncle Gary is when we would all get together for our yearly Christmas dinner at Oma and Opas . I always looked forward to seeing all the family and will always remember his dimples when he smiled . He was a very kind hearted man and will be missed . I didn’t see much of him for many years after Oma passed away and reconnected when he was in the hospital as my husband was also in u of a . When I heard uncle Gary was in there I went to have a very nice visit with him . We talked about old times and when we were younger . The last time I talked with him was a couple weeks before he passed, I wanted to go visit but was sick and didn’t want to pass my bug . We talked on the phone for over an hour and had such a nice chat and I was inspired by his strength and courage . That has to be a Posein trait . I am so happy I had a chance to reconnect with him . Love you Uncle Gary and will miss you as was looking forward to many more visits. Sending all my love to the rest of the family and your friends. ❤❤❤
I knew Gary for over 40 years and from the beginning I knew he was someone I would like as a friend for the rest of my life. We became very good friends and had so many great times together. With his great sense of humour I would always have tears in my eyes from laughing so hard. He was always a very caring and positive person even when he went through so much. He was a very true friend and will be sadly missed. Our deepest condolences to Dez and Family. John and Eleanor
Gary Posein was a gem of a man. I never heard him utter an unkind word about anyone and he was always the first to lend a hand or make a helpful or positive suggestion. He was a partner in “Lane’s Mist Racing” which was a small syndicate put together to race our thoroughbred “Silent Sam” and whether Sam ran first or last, Gary’s smile always made us feel like winners. Gary you will be sadly missed by all. Sincerest condolences to Dez and family. You are in our hearts and thoughts.
I was fortunate to know Gary since I was a girl of 5. As the step dad to my best friend he was always amazing. Sharing his love of Elvis and Conway Twitty singing with a twang and a grin. His smile was genuine and infectious and he always made me feel like I belonged. My memories are many from those days, but my two favorites are this. 1) the year I wasn’t allowed to go out for Halloween because I had bronchitis Gary dressed up as a ghoul took a pillow case out for me and collected candy on my behalf. What a guy. 2) was the time he cooked liver for lunch for us. (Remember we grew up in a time that you ate all of what was put in front of you). I HATE liver but I ate it , while also consuming an entire bottle of ketchup. He laughed and teased me forever about that. He was an extraordinary man who lived a great life and allowed the rest of us along for his ride. My memories are treasures, and we are all richer for having had him part of our lives. Thanks for letting me tag along for the ride.
Gary was much more than a stepfather to me, he was my Dad, my friend, my mentor, my Eskimo football game buddy. He taught me about working hard for your family, and how to play hard. Gary would help with auto troubles any time any temperature. I will miss him dearly but I am so glad he came into our families life, I am a better person for it and hope I can pass on his values to my family. Love always big fella.
About 30 years ago I met Gary. He was always a fun loving guy who always shared a big smile. There are so many wonderful memories of Gary that I hold in my heart…a bag full treasures to me! Gary made me feel loved and important. He always made time to share a moment to talk, look under the hood of my car and fix what was needed or help in any way he could. I will always remember the garage parties and how Gary taught me how to two-step and would make sure you had a turn on the dance floor!
He was so happy for us when Rod and I got married, and when Ashley and Austin were born, his big gentle arms held them so tenderly.
I feel so fortunate that Gary was in my family’s lives. He gentle demeanor, caring ways, and loving heart made him a great man and is a legacy that will be cherished by all of us.
Love ya always, Gar! The next dance is for you.
So sad. Tons of great memories. Introducing me to dead skunk at 3am during one of the many great garage parties, Halloween parties in the basement, sitting around the kitchen table with rod and the crew at 8am after their parties and having him wake up to come have a beer with us. Early morning garage party before we headed out to the grey cup. Too many more to mention. Condolences to the family.
Gary and I were co-workers for over twenty years. It was a pleasure to know him and we laughed a lot. To so many, it was just paint. Rest in peace big fella.
So sorry to hear of Gary’s passing. Last time we saw Gary we let him in line at the Dwight Yoakum concert in Leduc. Gary never seemed to change. He was always happy and his laugh was contagious. So many memories of playing baseball with him and all the kids and the gatherings at the house in Allendale. He will be greatly missed!
Gary was an extraordinarily special person who touched many lives with his contagious smile and his zest for life. We had the pleasure of working with Gary for many years as a Board Director, whose knowledgeable and helpful suggestions played an integral part on the board as well as a friendship which developed over the years with him and Dez. Gary you will be sadly missed by all. Sincerest condolences to Dez and family. You are in our hearts and thoughts.
